Dr. Salewa Olafioye currently practices as a Health Consultant in Detroit, Michigan, at the Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion, and at the New Light Recovery Center, Inc. which provides substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation. He also is a professor of Health Science and Nursing Medicine at the South University, Davenport University and Wayne County Community College. Dr. Olafioye completed his elementary education in Nigeria, at Yaba Methodist School Lagos and Methodist High school, Okitipupa in Ondo State. He later received his medical education in the United States and did his internship at the General Hospital and Massey Children Hospital, Lagos. Previously, as a renowned specialist and a world leading expert in HIV/AIDS, he served the United Nations as a health consultant from 1994 to 1996.

Dr. Olafioye’s career has taken him from medical field to a leading role in various social and humanitarian causes, including community organization, human rights activism and democracy advocacy. He has founded or served many communities, national and international based organizations. He served as the founding president of local organizations, including Odua Organization in Michigan (1990- 1992), and Nigeria Foundation of Michigan (1992-1994). Also, he was the founding president of the United African Community Organization (UACO), a 25-nation umbrella organization of various African countries; he is now serving as the Executive Director. He is the President of Nigeria Forum for Democracy and the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Democracy Alliance for Nigeria, USA.

Dr. Olafioye’s relentless efforts past and present have made him a pillar in the transformation and enthronement of true democracy of Africa. Previously, he was a designated Federal Cabinet Minister in Nigeria during the ill-fated Moshood Kashimawo Abiola (MKO) regime. In 1995, as a political reprisal for speaking out against the military suppression and inhuman treatment of people in Nigeria, the military junta of Abacha regime held him incommunicado but released him later at the intervention of the United Nations.

His hobbies include listening to music, watching news, attending community activities.

Chief Amadi is a United Nations Eminent Peace Ambassador-Category Global Diplomat. He is an Investment Ambassador/ Representative in Michigan USA, for the Imo State Investment Promotion Agency (ISIPA) of the government of Imo State, Nigeria. A bilateral trade Relationships Specialist, in 2019 he secured a trade relationship between the State of Michigan, USA, and the Imo State Nigeria.

WOMEN LEADER

Mrs. Chinwe B. Njoku from Imo State got her bachelor’s degree in Finance from New Jersey City University, and Master of Administration in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey. She is a Supervising Auditor with the New Jersey Department of Labor. She was the first and only female President of the Abia – Imo States Association in America.

Dr. Fatima Lawson, a community member, school administrator and adjunct professor, has had a long, winding journey to education. She was born and raised in the Northern Nigeria, in a community that often discouraged (Western) education, particularly for young women and girls. However, driven by her curiosity and thirst for knowledge, she first completed undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Ife in Nigeria, and then continued to complete another master’s and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, U.S.A.

Ms. Olufunke Taiwo directs and oversees membership activities for the organization. She previously served as the President and on the Board of directors of the Odua Organization of Michigan. She received HND Business Administration from the Polytechnic Ibadan. Ms. Olufunke Taiwo is an Independent Contractor and the Team Lead of New Hope of Indiana Professional Supported Living. Her hobbies include traveling and singing.

Dr. Mohammed A. Nasidi is the co-founder of the United Cure and Prevent Blindness Foundation, consistent with his passion for humanitarian services. Following his graduation from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria, he chose the medical line in order to touch the lives of less privileged blind people in our society.

Dr. Toyinbo is a Board-Certified Public Health professional and a Health Statistician. He earned his first doctoral degree in medicine from Nigeria. Later he received his Master of Science in Public Health and a Ph.D. degree in Public Health with Biostatistics concentration from the University of South Florida (USF) College of Public Health. He is an Affiliate Assistant Professor of Biostatistics in the USF Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Hobby: graphic designs and writing.

Barr. Justina Obaoye-Ajala (Principal, Kentyna Solicitors) is a legal practitioner resident in China. She is a United Nations Fellow for People of African Descent, and Member of the Parliament of the State of the African Diaspora (SOAD). Barr. Justina Obaoye-Ajala has served the community in several leadership capacities. She is the Pioneer President of Africa Diaspora in China Network (ADiC Net) since 2019, and the Vice President of Small Chinese since 2020. Amongst several other notable leadership roles in the past, she was the Acting President of Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NiDO) China, 2019-2020.
